We shared a moment that will last till the end....

So today I had a James Blount "You're Beautiful" moment. In Target. I do so love the Target. It happened in the allergy meds aisle of Super Target (possibly my favorite store in the world). I walked past this guy and our gazes just locked on each other. And this is going to sound sooo corny but it was like a jolt went through me. Then he smiled, and said in this deep sexy voice "salaam alaikum." Naturally, I smiled, lowered the lashes, and responded in kind. Before anything else could be said, my sister comes rushing up to me, all "where have you been? I've been calling you. Are you ready to go?" By the time I turned back, he was gone. Double damn. Oh, well, it was nice moment.

And that, folks, is why I never leave the house without looking my best. My sisters were busy making fun of me for taking the time to get ready just to run errands but I bet this wouldn't have happened if I'd been out looking all double rough.

On another note, can I just say, I love running into real Muslim men. Not the brothers that don't speak to you or even really acknowledge your presence, either thinking they're being respectful or not wanting to be bothered. Or those non-Muslim men that give you the salaams in that trying to get in your pants tone while looking you up and down, often simultaneously licking their lips. Eww. No, not them. I love real Muslim brothers like the one I ran into today. The ones that are respectful but not afraid to acknowledge you.

Yesterday, I was in 3 day camp in masjid al-fatir (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nuwi/88557591/ ) in south Chicago. I went to dunkin donuts to buy coffee and glazed donuts for my brothers in the masjid. There I met Sister Fatima who is from Morocco. She has only mother who travel back and forth. I had a quick chat with her and I offered her my help to find out a better paying salary in Information Industry where she has some experience. She told that nobody is ready to help her.

I shared the incident with brothers in the masjid. They started laughing at me and started warning me against getting into relationship with her. I tried to explain them that whatever I do to help her will be through my wife. Still they continued explaining me citing different incidents of how pious people ended up in Zina (Fornication).

I am confused now. I don’t have any feeling in my heart than helping here. Am I doing an act forbidden in Islam or an act that can reap rewards from Allah?

You're trying to help her for the sake of Allah but her intentions may be suspect. Unfortunately, you just never know with people. Help her through your wife and keep a safe distance. That way, you're still helping her but you're not doing anything wrong.

nice stories here.i'd not care who is saying what. we talk religion, only to benefit us. even when we see the real need we try to find a reason, not to help. we, so called muslims, frightened to help a muslim sister for a BIG reason, to save us from Hell fire! Where the sister should go for help? To a non muslim! Can she save her from there? Who cares! We Muslims, so eager to save ourselves!
Need to know our Islam a bit more. I try to help in any situation. I care a muslim girl in Non-muslim environment more than anything.
