Real Men Don't Crush

This one's for you, Atifa!

Awhile back, during college, I was teasing a guy friend about having a crush on another friend. He denied it and then proceeded to tell me that "men don't have crushes. That is a silly female affliction." Apparently, men get the hots for women, they have a thing for them, they like them, and they're interested in them. They never, ever have crushes unless they're gay. Maybe not even then. After I got over my shock (and laughter), it kind of made sense. I mean, when you have a crush, you're all giggly and stuff. I don't really see a man acting like that. On the other hand, having a crush is really just liking someone so even if you don't say the word aren't the feelings are the same? Hmmm, food for thought. I guess the jury's still out on this one. What do y'all think, do real men crush?

Hummmm, I guess I don't agree. I mean a crush is when you like someone and you're just on cloud 9 about the whole thing. You haven't done anything yet, so its still all just a ball of energy with in you. Guys can like gals and not tell them too. I wonder what this bro would define as a crush? Maybe we have different definitions.

peace,

I didn't see this one to comment earlier...

I don't think real men crush. Nope. And I've said this to so many people, men and women... every single man I've ever known takes what he wants or, if he doesn't get it, puts it out of his mind. Very few men that I know get crush-a-licious OR bitter over women for any big moment in time (exceptions for men who thought they had what they wanted and then were betrayed etc.).

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think guys get all happy until they have what they want. It's women who are all about possibility and subtlety. That's why they need us around ;).

stereotypically,

Well, not all men have the same frequency.
